Young K Synopsis and Plot Summary

Kang Young Hyun – also known professionally as Young K – is a South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter and musician. He is best-known for his work as the rapper, singer and bassist in South Korean rock band Day6.

He was raised in Ilsan (South Korea) and moved to Toronto to attend York Mills Collegiate Institute.

He has lived away from his parents since sixth grade. Brian Kang is his English name. Kang, a JYP trainee in 2010, moved to Korea.

On October 5th, 2017, he earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Dongguk University.

Kang Young Hyun, while in highschool, was part of a band consisting of three members called “3rd Degree”.

In 2010, Don Lee was contacted for an audition by JYP Entertainment. They were accepted and trained as trainees.

Kang was originally selected to join the JYP rock band 5Live. But their debut was cancelled.

In 2015, Day6 was reformed after Dowoon added to the lineup. On September 7, he released the first single of DAY6’s debut EP The Day with “Congratulations” on it.

Young K is credited with a lot of songwriting for DAY6. Even of Day is a sub-unit of DAY6 that debuted in August 2020. The album, The Book of Us Gluon was released with the single “Where the Sea Slept”.

Starting May 18, 2020, Youngjae will become the new DJ for MBC Radio Idol Radio along with GOT7.

He joined the military on October 12th, 2021 to fulfill his mandatory military duty. He was the first Kpop star to serve for KATUSA. He will complete the service on April 11th 2023.

He won the Best Warrior Competition, an annual competition for American soldiers. This competition tests each soldier’s mental and physically limits and gives them a ranking.

His father, who also served at Camp Casey in KATUSA, was also an American soldier.
